Community Care

Our chosen path is 'Caring' We do it, out of love, Though when the times are stressful, Oft' need that gentle shove. Be THAT, a kindly 'thank-you' From client, or, 'the boss' We do whate'er is needed T'prevent another loss. We've come through H1N1, With diligence that's due, And keeping ourselves healthy, We'll come through Covid too. Consider then, your clients, And keep your spirits high Each day's a new beginning, We'll get through, by and by.

Covid Separation

We used to meet and nod our heads   Acknowledging each other,   Not knowing, in an instant   We would miss, sister and brother.    A virus struck, not just our land,    Spreading to all the nations,    Governments closed down the world,    Banning, even, celebrations.    While still, on line, we can connect,    A 'something' has been missing;    That pers'nal touch, I speak of,    Giving hugs - { just skip the kissing.}    That 'gentle touch', the 'long embrace',    Displays appreciation,    "You're welcome, loved and needed"    It will matter not, the nation.   So WHEN we get to meet again   Recall this time of respite    Embraces should be plenty,   We'll remember how we missed it.

A mothers inner thoughts. (AAB CCB-446-446)

Surgery had been offered to me as a 10 yr old, but after mum spoke to a cousin of hers, who was a nurse, mum decided  to NOT put me through it - just incase.   A mothers inner thought prior to adult offspring {me}having neuro surgery. {see comment, below.} I watched you grow  While praying, so A cure, it would be found. My heart was sore,   I prayed some more Each time you "fell to ground". My eyes did weep,  Who, would you, keep When dad and I were gone? And yes, it’s true, I prayed that you Would NOT be left alone. But then a glim Of hope from Him I’ll tell you, I WAS scared The years of pain Had been my bane  I’ll know not, how you fared. The choice was yours, YOU fought the wars Of anguish, when it hit. I prayed with dad That we’d be glad Your choice would make them quit. I feared the worst Would you be cursed? You’d know not, dad nor me. Your memory gone? A star that shone? We prayed...

Wrestling World

Wrestling World In his corner, boots and trunks,  Trying to look brave,  Eyeing me both down and up  Wondering if I'll cave  To his demeaning, bullying gaze  His pecs and biceps pump  Hoping that his menacing stare  Will cause my throat to lump. But I, though leaner, can deceive,  Good tactics I will use,  My lithe and supple, agile form  Will aid, to him abuse.  With 'pins' and 'clothesline', 'headbutt', 'kick',  And 'diving elbow drop',  Weakened by my high 'back kick'  With final 'backhand chop'. He tries his best to rally round  To submit, he'll not yield,  The ref, though, sees his flailing arms  Decides, he must concede.  But undeterred and utt'ring threats  A rematch he insists  He leaves the ring, frustrated mood  While pumping iron fists.

A Hug

A hug is so affirming,                                                        With body contact, true,                                                          A reassuring comfort                                                      That someone cares for you.                                 ...

I'm a Survivor

I'm a Survivor [To the tune "I'm a believer"] I thought life was only good for other folk Meant for everyone just not for me Seizures out to get me That's the way it seemed Second class status destroyed my dreams Then they saw my scar, yes I'm a survivor Not a trace, of doubt in my mind I’ve been cured, yeah I'm a survivor No sign of seizures left behind. I grew up within the cloud of paranoia Wond’ring when the next one, it would strike Seizures tried to take me But they didn’t win I’d the strongest  ally on my side Then they saw my scar, yes I'm a survivor Not a trace, of doubt in my mind I’ve been cured, yeah I'm a survivor No sign of seizures left behind. What's the use of trying All you get is pain When I yearned for sunshine I got rain, Then they saw my scar, yes I'm a survivor Not a trace, of doubt in my mind I’ve been cured, yeah I'm a survivor No sign of seizures left be...

Surgery poem - by a cousin

For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal,    declares the LORD Jer. 30 : 17 The rest of the ward are sleeping I'm laying here alone I wish this ordeal were over And I were safe at home. The nurses bustle around me To them, it's all routine, They don't realise the turmoil Or the trials I have seen. But it's now in the still dark nighttime That I feel HIS presence so near The ONE who said He'd never leave If I called, HE would be here. Now I'm being prepared for surgery, To the theatre I'm being wheeled And though I may feel insecure,  To fear, I dare not yield. Now I feel unconsciousness coming  As my eyes begin to close I feel as if I am drifting. . . . . . . . . . . Slowly. . . . . . into . . . . . . . . a doze. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I have awakened, feeling much better, My surgery has been a success, Again, as in all previous trials...

Winding down

Winding Down. We're coming to finale, The tour has reached end days, Our tunics boxed and loaded up In truck, - soon on our ways. The tour has passed so quickly, Reflectingly, we see Th'enjoyment that we passed along By singing harmony. The prep, before we started, The details that were striven, In planning venues, rooms and towns By those with foresight given. So to that team, and Terri too, Who stepped in, near the end, We give our full "CONGRATS" to you, Your expertise, commend. But yet there's one we still have missed, Oft times we would, him, pester The quiet man with best of view, Of course, we speak of Lester. Manoeuvring that monster bus 'round bends - ninety degrees, Up hill, down dale, in sun and dark, Performed with such an ease. The friendships that were started The memories we will keep, Those burly, head-lamped, digging guys We call 'Men of the Deep' And of the dollars that we raised 'It's no...

FAMILY

FAMILY  It's just been proved today, to me This chorus IS a 'family' A tour to Peggy's Cove was planned But then I heard, we're down one man. As the Benevolence Officer And just because, it's 'me' Whene'er I heard the plight of Karl, I HAD to go and see That he was not in pain, alone, A problem shared is eased, I wouldn't have enjoyed the day And would have been displeased If anything severe had 'curred With no one there, beside, Forever I'd feel guilty And prob'ly, myself, chide. However, as the bus did leave It was assured to me That my wife would be looked after Alone, she would not be. So when I did contact our 'Bob' Regarding Karl, with news, Delighted was I to have learned You all had paid full dues And made sure Liz was taken care And not alone, was she, So thank you all, for being  YOU Extended FAMILY. September 20th Ant-Hal (by Colin Ross)

September 20th Ant-Hal “Here we go again, Off down the road again, Leave Antig’nish, Hal’fax bound.”     - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  After havin’ a rest day Recharging vocal chords, We’re leaving Antigonish, Halifax, towards. Karl and Fred left early, For most, that seems absurd, To rise before the cockcrows, They are the “early bird”.      - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  Our bus has just been loaded With luggage, - now with folk, A headcount done and tallied, To leave ONE, is no joke. While John Black was a teacher Though maths, NOT his forte, He makes sure no one’s missing, And keeps us all at bay. Our ‘Searg-at-arms’ unable On this trip, to attend, His ‘second in command’, has done A job we can commend. A cloudy day, but thus far, It’s keeping dry, -  no rain, For Lester, with the wipers goin’ ‘Twould really be a pain. Our first stop is at Truro Some need a b...
