A QUESTION?

I have to make, See what’s at stake, A statement, some might know The answer to, Could it be YOU?, I hope you’ll have a go. If I’m unsure, Please, me, endure, Don’t think of me - a fool I listened hard, Shakespere, the bard, Whene’er I was at school. Last year, ’twas not, Might have forgot,  So many years have gone, The memory true, It DOES leave you, As years, you do live long. Some names you knew, Prob’ly left you, Not seen the face, long time, A friend from school,  You thought was ‘kewl’ Can’t bring their name to mind. You fake it though, Ne’er say “don’t know The name which you are called’', It’s such a task, Don’t dare to ask You’re filing system, stalled. Apparently, And you will see, I MIGHT have made suggestion,  ‘Exactly WHAT, ( I have forgot ) Is this thing, called a ‘question’?

Respiration

Sitting in the hospital  Well, sitting up, on bed, I had smoke inhalation,  The paramedics said. I'm just up for a check up, I feel fine, otherwise, I'm trying really hard not to Sing " smoke got in my eyes" A stove fire in the kitchen So glad " fire blanket" had,  Know not what will be damaged Trusting it's not THAT bad. Think paramedics, cautious, A full lung check to give, T'ensure I will keep breathing,   Essential, that,  to live. Liz didn't breathe as much smoke, Thought not, I'd breathed a lot, 'Tis best though, to be cautious, Than later on, be caught. Been told that it's not too bad, Be getting home anon, Though puffer, medication, For while, putting me on.

The old tin shop

Th’address was 1, Carnmoney Road, The village, Glengormley, ’Twas in the nineteen hundreds, An air, so eerily. In better days, and summer, Outside she’d serve some tea, A table in her garden, Side door, would gain entry. Whene’er you entered through front door, Alerting bell would “ding” You might have had to wait a bit, Her presence, for to bring. Wearing long skirt, few whiskers. A covering apron too, Always pleased to welcome Delighted to serve you. No new fangled contraptions Step back, in history, The Rocket machines with ‘bubble gum’ Were sold for just 1d Her cash till too, old fashioned, Well, why waste her money ?                       It did the job she needed When serving you or me. The ‘BlackJacks’ and ‘Fruit Salad’ A ‘farthing’ each, would be, Then ‘single cigarettes’ would sell T'almost any body. Her ‘sliders’ were “to die for” Hand made for goodness sake, A stool to help her delve in Her freezer, them to make. She was a Village icon, And what is she to me? The lady in

I N S P I R A T I O N

A GRATEFUL HEART

A GRATEFUL heart, a thankful soul, Giving alms, your utmost goal, Helping those with less to show, Fell on hard times? just who will know? "But I have toiled for all I've gained, Laboured hard, I have attained My wealth, prosperity, and so You want me, some of it, let go?" "Why couldn't they have done the same, It's LIFE, and it is NOT a game, You do receive your just reward, Work hard, prestige on you'll be poured." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - My friend, You see that guy o'er there? At one time, he had not a care Of where his next meal would be found, 'til BOOM........ his business fell to ground. 'Twas not his fault, he'd planned ahead, But instantly - his business, - dead, He too, had helped others in need, Not knowing, soon, he'd also plead. So spare a thought, for who's to know Which road your life is going to go, In twinkling eye, it all could change, And life for you could look so strange.

Blackpool Tower

The Tower so tall at Blackpool A landmark proud and rare Still opened to the public, Least WAS, when I was there. Though that was in late seventies, When, in late teens, I was, Just HAD to go and see it No reason - Just because. I’d saw it from a distance A towering oh so high Though as I neared main building No signage, - I walked by. I had to ask a local The tower had gone, to where? Was unaware, store shopping Surrounded everywhere. Eventually found doorway Through store, the tower was signed. Then elevated to the top The view so scenic, find

Uniforms

It’s said that “clothing makes a man”, Though surely that’s not true, A uniform MAY look so smart,  But is it REALLY “you”? Are you no more or less the chef When donned with white attire Than when in tee and jeans you’re clad To cook near roasting fire? A business man in pin striped suit, Does respect, he, more gain Because he LOOKS tad ’smarter’ Than he who dresses plain? A nurse in nineteen sixties style With pure white bib, starched hat,  Will LOOK much more professional Than scrub wearer, with ‘tat’. Though hopefully they’ll give same care And put the patient first, When e-mer-gency bells resound Or artery should burst. Surely it’s what is in the heart And how others, you treat, That should define your character,  Then just dressing so neat.
