Covid Christmas?

Christmas has, of late, been changed

From celebrating Christ

To now, a massive spending spree,

A  frightful, sacred heist.

A time when HE, who came to earth,

The Christ, born as a child,

The Son of God, yet son of man,

To save a world, gone wild.

He’s now been pushed and shoved aside,

It’s all about the presents,

With often not a mention giv’n,

For God, there is no presence.

These past long months, we’ve seen a change,

Restrictions, we have faced,

The limitations to unite

And vast constraints, been placed

Now NOTHING is beyond His power

He can, to good, change ‘ill’,

The universe, in just six days

Was ‘spoken’ at His will.

He CAN, and HAS, turned loss to gain

And hence to HIM, bring praise,

To show us He’s STILL in control,

Ev’n in these fear filled days.

So even as we celebrate

This Christmas, like none other,

Help us to change, considering

Each other, like a brother.

Let us not permit fear t’abound

And cower, weak and small,

But stand upright, proclaim His might,

Then give to Him, our all.

The media bombard with ads., Pushing forth the latest fads, The parents now seem under stress, They're spending more, though giving less. Oh to live in bygone days Though cash was scarce, with less in pays, The children, then, were quite content And knew what Christmas really meant

Addenda to 'Who is this man'

Who is this Man Addenda (in blue) to an anthem by Mary Kay Beall entitled Who is this Man? sung in my home church choir a few years ago. Who is this man upon a cross By love's decree, brought low? They say He came to save the world Because God loved us so The King of Kings And Lord of Lords Eternally He'll reign Can it be true He died for me And yes, would die again Who is this man upon the cross? He is a friend to me And though I oft Him disappoint His love has set me free The King of Kings And Lord of Lords He took my sin and pain And yes it's true He died for me, But will return again

A Father's Blessing

As youngest son, I always sensed                   From many of the brothers,                   True or not, they’d put me down,                   I wasn’t like the others.                                    A few days prior to passing on,                  A blessing I was giv’n                        From my beloved, aged dad,                  Before he moved to Heav’n.                                    His health was failing faster now  ...
