It seems it was imperative,
That I was MEANT to be
My mother yearned to have a girl,
Just turned forty, had me.
Ne’er knew ’til both folk, they had passed
Two pregnancies, there were,
And carried long enough to know
Female was their gender.
A daughter, mum had yearned for,
Once she’d be born, they’d quit,
Though HE had plans, parents knew not,
The sixth son, THEN, that’s it.
My eldest bro, by fifteen years,
Aft' both parents had passed,
Did mention ‘bout an older sis.,
‘pon hearing, was aghast.
He then mentioned ’tween third and fourth,
The time, six years, went by,
Informed me of another girl,
Mum lost, and tears did cry.
‘Tween ’56 and ’59
More boys there were, by three,
The last just aft’ mum forty, turned,
In early January.
Years later, when in hospital,
Did mum confess to me,
“When bearing you, did not you, want, ..........
.......“God KNEW, though, NEEDED, be.”
