A Canopy of trees (‘mummies road’)
My mother, she was city born
With buildings all around,
When she was wed did make the move
To rural town, with ground.
When being driven ‘round by dad,
Down remote country street,
She loved the roads with trees on side
When overhead, did meet.
“Each time I drive on such a road
I just feel so secure
As if the leaves and branches strong
O’erhead, safety, conjure.”
Did venture down such road today.
Branches with leaves did pack,
And as I saw that canopy,
Mum’s memory was brought back.
To me, such road is ‘mummies road’
No matter what it’s called
A sense of being comforted
Bad memories, been stalled.
