If love could heal afflictions, You’d have been healed at birth, Your family ALL adore you, They ne’er ignore your worth. Your happy disposition, Despite your encumbrance, To live a regular childhood, You never had a chance. Yet you remain so happy Though showing pain and hurt, No worries ‘bout your future, Nor cares in life t’exert. You’re happy with so little, With love, you will survive, It’s what has brought you thus far And helped you live and thrive. Now living in your ‘Group Home’ Don’t get to meet, each day O’er ten years as your carer, Memories, WON’T fly away.

Covid Christmas?

Christmas has, of late, been changed From celebrating Christ To now, a massive spending spree, A  frightful, sacred heist. A time when HE, who came to earth, The Christ, born as a child, The Son of God, yet son of man, To save a world, gone wild. He’s now been pushed and shoved aside, It’s all about the presents, With often not a mention giv’n,  For God, there is no presence. These past long months, we’ve seen a change, Restrictions, we have faced, The limitations to unite And vast constraints, been placed Now NOTHING is beyond His power He can, to good, change ‘ill’, The universe, in just six days Was ‘spoken’ at His will. He CAN, and HAS, turned loss to gain And hence to HIM, bring praise, To show us He’s STILL in control, Ev’n in these fear filled days. So even as we celebrate This Christmas, like none other, Help us to change, considering Each other, like a brother. Let us not permit fear t’abound And cower, weak and small, But stand upright, proclaim His might, Then give to Him, o

Resting wishes

Will I, for my final rest,  In the casket, be all dressed, Just so folk can pass me by And with saddened hearts, they cry? Will the earthworm have a meal When they 'ventually reveal Me, interred deep in the soil? NO, I'd rather, they, me, boil. Keep the vestments for th'forlorn Have me burnt, as day was born, Scatter me amongst the sand Somewhere warm, in this dear land.

Community Care

Our chosen path is 'Caring' We do it, out of love, Though when the times are stressful, Oft' need that gentle shove. Be THAT, a kindly 'thank-you' From client, or, 'the boss' We do whate'er is needed T'prevent another loss. We've come through H1N1, With diligence that's due, And keeping ourselves healthy, We'll come through Covid too. Consider then, your clients, And keep your spirits high Each day's a new beginning, We'll get through, by and by.

Covid Separation

We used to meet and nod our heads   Acknowledging each other,   Not knowing, in an instant   We would miss, sister and brother.    A virus struck, not just our land,    Spreading to all the nations,    Governments closed down the world,    Banning, even, celebrations.    While still, on line, we can connect,    A 'something' has been missing;    That pers'nal touch, I speak of,    Giving hugs - { just skip the kissing.}    That 'gentle touch', the 'long embrace',    Displays appreciation,    "You're welcome, loved and needed"    It will matter not, the nation.   So WHEN we get to meet again   Recall this time of respite    Embraces should be plenty,   We'll remember how we missed it.
