Student "door to door's"

Was being plagued by salesmen
Who travelled door to door,
They're really quite annoying,
And I could take no more.

Me thinks they all were students,
To make 'a buck or two',
But REALLY, did they HAVE to
Keep pestering me and you?

The final straw was broken,
Was going to take no more,
I taught the guys a lesson,
That they would call no more.

Was selling 'Water Heaters
For us to 'rent' instead,                                                                    The one we had was paid for,                                                                                                                          'And working', I t'him, said.

Continued on, not list'ning,                                                                             .                                So let him fill forms in                                 . .   .      .                                Ready for me to sign them                              . .  '  .                     Twas then, FUN, did begin.

"So let me get this straight" said I
                                "You do expect of me,
T'get rid of working heater, OWNED,
                                 To have one RENTED, be?"

D'you think I was born yesterday?"
                                 Then opened up back door
                                 And FLUNG his paperwork outside,
                                 For him, glad 'tdidn't pour.

                                The incident widespread was known,
Least, of that, I am sure,
Things quietened down on our quiet street
                        ALL salesmen, saw no more.

Addenda to 'Who is this man'

Who is this Man Addenda (in blue) to an anthem by Mary Kay Beall entitled Who is this Man? sung in my home church choir a few years ago. Who is this man upon a cross By love's decree, brought low? They say He came to save the world Because God loved us so The King of Kings And Lord of Lords Eternally He'll reign Can it be true He died for me And yes, would die again Who is this man upon the cross? He is a friend to me And though I oft Him disappoint His love has set me free The King of Kings And Lord of Lords He took my sin and pain And yes it's true He died for me, But will return again

To Know, Know, Know Him. {song}

To know, know, know Him, Is to love, love, love Him, Just to walk His way, In His will, to stay, Yes. to know, know, know Him, Is to love, love, love Him, And I do, yes I do, do you? When He died for me, On that cruel tree, He endured such agony Just so He could set me free, He rose again triumphantly And He lives in Heav'n eternally, He wants you and me there too. Why can't men see How vast His love be? Some day He'll return To take His own to Glory. To know, really know Him, Is to love, truly love Him Live for Him each day, In His will, obey, Yes to know, know, know Him, Is to love, love, love Him And I know, He loves you too.                                                                                       ...

"Wake me up before you go go"

I heard this song this morning  On local radio Evoking strong memory Of really long ago. Was travelling from homeland That's Belfast, (north, six miles) To London's Heathrow airport, The song brought back some smiles. I sailed to Stranraar's harbour From our port, town of Larne Then o'ernight train going southbound Arriving there earl' morn. To catch my next connection Vancouver bound was I, The train ride, it was cheaper Than 'nother plane to fly Whene'er the train I boarded No seats avail'ble were Some military men were on them, Stretched out, without a care. I couldn't hear them snoring Or see the dreams they had But felt their tired demeanour To waken, would've been bad. Recall me having thought tough, How 'xhausted those men were, And how I'd feel if woken, To do so, wouldn't dare. The lines of song to my mind Came flooding back to me As coming from the soldiers So loved ones, they would see. So I just hunkered down, me, Near tr...
