My father was hard worker,
A tradesman, great, was he,
In Belfast city centre
His work displayed, to see.
Aft' working with the company,
Some private calls he'd make,
Sunday was the only day
That he would get a break.
If he came home aft' supper,
Reheated, was, his meal,
A quick scan of the paper,
Soon snoozing, 'twas his deal.
However, not a deep sleep,
Once 'sawn wood' we did hear,
The T.V. channel, changed, was,
He made it VERY clear.
"Hey, I was watching that" soon heard,
'Were sleeping', we, him, told,
"I was only 'resting my eyes' "
To US, he was out cold.
