A youthful lad of twenty three,
Enlisted in this lands army,
But in this war-torn land I pray
I'll live to see another day.
My thirties now, on bended knee,
Consented, soon, to marry me,
And when I vow to love, obey,
I'll live to see another day.
A mortgage hanging over me,
No longer am I 'young and free'
With little left in every pay,
I'll live to see another day.
At fifty nine, going on sixty,
Retirement's looming over me
And though my hair has all turned grey,
I'll live to see another day.
I've gotten old, you must agree,
My hearing's gone, my eyes don't see,
I ask 'IF' when on bed I lay,
I'll live......... to see........ another day.
