Methinks it is an Ulsterism,
Or maybe “Ulster/Scot”
But listening, to folk from ‘home’,
They say it, quite a lot.
It seems so natural to do,
Though since informed, I was,
I’ve caught myself and stopped just short,
Of saying, - just because.
Repeat, they do, the ‘so it is’
Quite oft’, the ‘so we do’,
E’en ‘so we did’ or ‘have’ and ‘are’
Would oft’ be heard, by you.
It seems it’s for em-pha-sis,
To stress a point of view,
Since told, I’ve stopped myself, just short
Of saying it, on cue.
I’d never even thought before,
The Ulsterism, gram.,
So glad ’twas brought to MY ‘ttention,
I AM pleased, ............. ‘so I am’.
