My longest seizure My Longest Seizure

Presently I haven't forgotten this, nor do I WANT to, but with passing time the memory could well fade, hence the event in rhyme :-   MY LONGEST SEIZURE Growing up with seizures, Though mostly, very mild, I had gotten used to them, Had had them, from a child. There was a quite severe one When I was twenty five, In hindsight, I am very blessed That I am still alive. No transport, but my bicycle, It was ten speed, the best, Faster 'twas, than walking, Of that, you can attest. I also did some swimming And in mid week would go A-cycling to the swimming pool Some laps do, to and fro. I NEVER hid from others, My disability, Friends and all relations Would know, that that, was me. One evening, on my journey down, A head formed battle, felt, I tried to say 'you'll be okay' But fate, the seizure, dealt. With providence, I landed Away from traffic flow, The first thing I did notice, Was ambulance, on the go. Two girls I'd met the previ...

Great Knit

I have many sweaters,                                          Though there's a 'special four'        Which mean the world and more to me, As memories, they pour.   Four differing styles and colours, Hand knited with much love By my dear loving mother, Who's now in Heaven above.   They're all now over thirty years, And still as good as new, The compliments I still receive, Mum, I give back to you.   They're of the Aran style, made So warm and cosy, too,      And know, whene'er I wear  them,  I always , think of you.

A Driving Strength

Often I remember,                                              How, with love, you cared,                                                Even when in adulthood,                                              Journeys, that we shared.                              When driving was a   ' NO'   for me,                                        Your love shone, OH SO BRIGHT,                             ...

The Bout

In his corner, boots and trunks,  Trying to look brave,  Eyeing me both down and up  Wondering if I'll cave  To his demeaning, bullying gaze  His pecs and biceps pump  Hoping that his menacing stare  Will cause my throat to lump. But I, though leaner, can deceive,  Good tactics I will use,  My lithe and supple, agile form  Will aid, to him abuse.  With 'pins' and 'clothesline', 'headbutt', 'kick',  And 'diving elbow drop',  Weakened by my high 'back kick'  With final 'backhand chop'. He tries his best to rally round  To submit, he'll not yield,  The ref, though, sees his flailing arms  Decides, he must concede.  But undeterred and utt'ring threats  A rematch he insists  He leaves the ring, frustrated mood  While pumping iron fists.

Rescuing the Lost Sheep

Another reason we could see, The sheep - though old was sought, To show us all that EVERY ONE No matter age, was bought With blood shed from the Saviours hands His feet, His side and brow, A life in Heaven to secure, If you will trust Him, now.

Relaxation

Gazing far out to the sea                                                         Trees pointing t’wards the sky                                                         Calm serenity draws me close                                                             Where water trickles by                       ...

NATURALLY

Artistic and creative nudes Not necessarily naked dudes Artistic work may NOT just mean A picture, portrait, to be seen But wording, in a special way Can also, artistically play. To be at one with nature's sun Alone, with friends, special someone, Relaxing, playing sports quite nude In teams or with another dude. Some ways we can, this, naturalise Our way of life, to prying eyes. So live creatively at ease At home, at play, just not to tease Relaxing, working, all is good And definitely better, when done nude.

If love could heal afflictions,                                           You’d have been healed at birth, Your family ALL adore you, They ne’er ignore your worth. Your happy disposition, Despite your encumbrance, To live a regular childhood, You never had a chance. Yet you remain so happy Though showing pain and hurt, No worries ‘bout your future, Nor cares in life t’exert. You’re happy with so little, With love, you will survive, It’s what has brought you thus far And helped you live and thrive. Now living in your ‘Group Home’ Don’t get to meet, each day O’er ten years as your carer, Memories, WON’T fly away.

Covid Christmas?

Christmas has, of late, been changed From celebrating Christ To now, a massive spending spree, A  frightful, sacred heist. A time when HE, who came to earth, The Christ, born as a child, The Son of God, yet son of man, To save a world, gone wild. He’s now been pushed and shoved aside, It’s all about the presents, With often not a mention giv’n,  For God, there is no presence. These past long months, we’ve seen a change, Restrictions, we have faced, The limitations to unite And vast constraints, been placed Now NOTHING is beyond His power He can, to good, change ‘ill’, The universe, in just six days Was ‘spoken’ at His will. He CAN, and HAS, turned loss to gain And hence to HIM, bring praise, To show us He’s STILL in control, Ev’n in these fear filled days. So even as we celebrate This Christmas, like none other, Help us to change, considering Each other, like a brother. Let us not permit fear t’abound And cower, weak and small, But stand upright, proclaim His might, Then give ...

Resting wishes

Will I, for my final rest,  In the casket, be all dressed, Just so folk can pass me by And with saddened hearts, they cry? Will the earthworm have a meal When they 'ventually reveal Me, interred deep in the soil? NO, I'd rather, they, me, boil. Keep the vestments for th'forlorn Have me burnt, as day was born, Scatter me amongst the sand Somewhere warm, in this dear land.
